Carson brought his Toyota Tacoma over from Davenport, IA to get Opti-Coat Nano Ceramic Tint on the sides and rear.
A couple months ago he came in for an interior detail. He drives his truck a lot for work, hanging clean clothes in the back, and he knew it had gotten to a point where it needed some serious resetting. Here are those Iowa tint laws:
Iowa allows 70 percent VLT (visible light transmittance) on the top strip above the AS-1 line on windshields.
We are now allowed to have slightly darker tint on the front side windows. Iowa has dropped it from 70% to 50%. (In my personal opinion, I think 50% looks very classy).
The back side and rear windows can be any shade of darkness.
So, to recap:
Windshield strip above AS-1 Line: 70%
Front sides: 50%
Back sides and rear: Any shade
I should also mention that there are two types of window tint: Carbon and Ceramic. Carbon is cheaper, focusing on just the shade of darkness. Ceramic has different shades and also does a much better job of rejecting heat, keeping you cooler in your cabin.
